Our Week Is Winding Down

A Leisurely Lunch & Planning For Our Weekend Activit

Thursday, September 20, 2012  Written by Sarah

Our day began in a usual fashion. Everyone was zipping around all morning in order to get to our assigned schools on time. Two of us actually had a surprise hour off in the morning, and it was spent being shown the beach and several churches by one of the teachers.
As previously mentioned earlier in the week, teachers have been using their global volunteers differently. At the school I am assigned to, some volunteers have been subbing in for teachers that are presently in London. While in other schools, some are being incorporated into the curriculum.
People in our host community have been approaching global volunteers to request additional tutoring on the side. These people range from young children to adults. The increasing number of tutoring sessions demonstrates that we are doing our assignments, and doing them well.

Getting lost is not fun!  The winding streets, the unfamiliar faces, a foreign language.

Just as she was about to give up.  Help came upon her in the form of none other than a kind and friendly Monopolitano, who did not speak English.  But that is ok - French and Spanish is good enough for our lost Global Volunteer.  He and his friend gave her a ride back to the hotel and all is well again in the land of Puglia.
